The world of sales and COVID-19

The world of sales and COVID-19

Starting a new role at any time can be quite daunting, however, starting a new role just as the world enters a global shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic was really challenging.

I do however consider myself as being lucky to have started my new role as Business Development Manager at IPSERV in April, just as we went into the lockdown here in the UK. This of course had a huge impact on how business to business sales took place, which meant we all had to learn new working processes, as well as having to develop our own roles with new approaches to achieving our goals.

Ensuring our customers had the support in place they needed was essential for us, we wanted to ensure that no business was forgotten or ignored.

Our existing customers took priority as we supported them with their new cleaning requirements and regimes, enhanced security support for unoccupied buildings, and introduced new waste streams to cope with additional PPE.

Ensuring our customers had the support in place they needed was essential for us, we wanted to ensure that no business was forgotten or ignored.

This was also the start of our eMarketing and social media launch. Both of which have been such an important avenue for us to develop. Previously the majority of our business has come from face-to-face appointments and networking, so having the chance to connect with our customers online is fantastic.

I have personally had many skype and video calls with new and potential customers, I have met family members and pets that I would have never met under normal working conditions. It has been a brilliant opportunity for building better relationships, and really getting to know our customers.

I have been working on some exciting projects and contracts recently, which have all been able to progress from the comfort of my home, supported by the occasional socially distanced site visit as restrictions have eased.

So, the important question, what does our new normal look like for the world of sales and COVID-19?

We forecast that the number of sites we clean will continue to grow, as many businesses now require additional support to ensure their workspaces are COVID secure. We expect our new sanitisation spraying services to continue to be our best selling service and we expect to have many more client meetings via teams and skype.

If you have any COVID decontamination or cleaning requirements contact us now to discuss how we can support you getting your business COVID secure.
