Job title: Design & Print Manager | Ipswich
Salary: £36,591 - £41,819 | 37 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Design & Print Manager to join us, managing a team of Graphic Designers and Print Room Officers as well as the service for a wide range of clients.
As the commercial arm of Ipswich Borough Council, you will be working to support the Council and our current and future customer portfolio to ensure professional standards are maintained and innovation is implemented.
You will be highly organised and will have extensive knowledge of professional printing and/or graphic design and will be someone who embraces change and is proactive at enhancing and evolving a service area.
Your days will be varied and can include a hybrid working pattern, with time spent in our Ipswich office and working from home.
Main Duties
- Lead on the day to day running of the design and print service including the Graphic Designers and Print Room Operatives.
- Manage the design and print service as per the Operational Management Plan & Operations Manual, updating these documents as the service is developed and enhanced and when changes occur.
- Lead the management functions including recruitment, supervision, employee development, training, performance management one to ones and appraisals to ensure an effective service is provided and the individual and service KPI’s are met.
- Manage the equipment and equipment suppliers, contracts and leases to ensure supplier SLA’s are met and the equipment is maintained and has minimal downtime.
- Negotiate with suppliers to obtain consumable goods, equipment, and services at competitive market rates.
- Raise and process requisitions and goods received notes, ensuring accurate management of all costs.
- Develop and manage the delivery of the design and print team business plan.
- Oversee the response and resolution of compliments and complaints.
- Undertake and evaluate research and prepare reports.
- Liaise closely with customers to ensure accurate quotes are provided and deadlines are met for providing print and design orders.
- Quality check print and design projects/orders to ensure documents are free of errors and maintain professional standards.
- Complete financial processes, ensuring all customer payments are taken at the point of order or are invoiced swiftly and accurate internal financial reports are completed.
- Responsible for the delivery of the service budget.
- Responsible for health and safety of the service, the employees, customers and the equipment within the service and the relevant documentation.
- Ensure the design and print team are completing their roles and responsibilities accurately, on time and to a high standard.
You will be joining a friendly team and reporting directly to the Operations Manager.
We are offering a competitive salary of £36,591 - £41,819 per annum, access to ongoing career development and training, Local Government Pension Scheme, generous annual leave scheme of 26 days plus bank holidays rising to 31 days plus bank holidays after 5 years’ service, subsidised rail and bus travel and retail and leisure discounts.
